Looking back on the the 1st round QB selections since 2002, it is hard to find many that are worthy of their big paychecks. The qb's draft go as follows:
2002: David Carr, Joey Harrington, Patrick Ramsey
2003: Carson Palmer, Byron Leftwich, Kyle Boller, Rex Grossman
2004: Eli Manning, Philip Rivers, Ben Roethlisberger, J.P. Losman
2005: Alex Smith, Aaron Rodgers, Jason Campbell
2006:Vince Young, Matt Leinart, Jay Cutler
2007: JaMarcus Russel, Brady Quinn
Ok Well here is my sad but true breakdown... I don't like it; not many of these guys are first round calliber QBs. The only person out of the 19 QBs that has established himself as an elite player is Carson Palmer. Big Ben has been very productive, put up decent numbers, and has won games, but is not a statistical monster in the passing game (Doing a little better this year). Other than those 2 I think there are 3 decent QBs: Jay Cutler, Eli Manning, Philip Rivers. These 3 guys have had their ups and downs but are truly inconsistant, but these three could possibly develop into something like Palmer (just taking to long). Some may try and make an arguement for Campbell or Young, but im sorry I havn't seen anything yet, and I do not think I will. We know nothing about Russel or Quinn as an NFL QB so I can't say anything on that topic. As for the rest of these misfortunites, have fun with the clipboard.

You just have to give some of these guys time. We won't know about the 2007 guys for awhile. Aaron Rodgers looks good, but behind Farve, we'll never see him. Alex Smith looks okay, if the 49ers could get an offensive line together to protect, he'll be good. Leinart has the injury holding him back. And Vince Young needs some more time to mature. So maybe these guys shouldn't have been 1st rounders, but their payoff will come later.
